Welcome
Brandon Cooperative Preschool is a high quality, non-profit educational, developmental preschool for young children ages 3-5. The preschool is administered and maintained by parents, under the direction of a highly experienced, qualified teacher. Brandon Co-op Preschool is fully licensed by the State of Michigan, and a member of Parent Cooperative Preschools International.
History
Brandon Cooperative Preschool was established in 1973 with the goal of providing a unique preschool experience for children with a parental involvement component. A Constitution and By-Laws was established with parent/teacher collaboration. Children have been nurtured and guided for thirty-eight years at Brandon Cooperative Preschool. Parents observe, participate, help, and learn more about their child through their chosen level of involvement. Parents, grandparents, or caregivers may assist in the class room on a rotating schedule.
Philosophy
The preschool's philosophy is that young children learn best through high quality experiences that are meaningful to them, developmentally appropriate, and involve exploration and discovery. Activities provided for the children are planned with specific goals, for cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth. Children are provided a balance of teacher-directed, and child-centered activities aimed at kindergarten readiness and beyond. The curriculum and activities are planned and directed by our teacher.
